In recent years Instant Pot® revolutionized the pressure-cooker market with their extremely popular and easy-to-use modern pressure cooker. There are many other brands available, and in our opinion most are wonderful. For the purposes of this page, when we state “Instant Pot” we also include other brands of similar appliances.
What Does It Do?
The Instant Pot Pressure Cooker is a cooking revolution. It takes the place of SEVEN kitchen appliances and cooks food unbelievably quickly. Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Marker and Warmer. The Instant Pot accomplishes all of this and more with six quarts of cooking space and two pressure modes to ensure that everything you cook comes out perfectly. Imagine being able to cook perfect, fall off the bone meats in a matter of minutes rather than hours, and then effortlessly switch to making a batch of homemade soup, also cooked in less time than it takes to watch an episode of your favorite sitcom!
Some Benefits From Using Instant Pot-Style Cookers
Because the Instant Pot does not require that most food be immersed in a large quantity of water and the pressure and heat are applied so evenly, you don’t run the risk of dissolving and losing many of the healthy nutrients in food. At the same time, foods are also not exposed to the outside air while cooking, so you don’t end up with drab oxidized food which have been stripped of their nutrients. As a result, you hold onto all of those valuable nutrients.
The Instant Pot works by cooking at a higher temperature than boiling water and as a result, it creates enough heat to reliably kill any harmful microorganisms hiding in your food. Studies have shown that heating foods simply to the boiling point of water does not effectively kill certain harmful bacteria’s and funguses. But because the Instant Pot cooks at a higher temperature, you can be assured that any harmful organisms will be eliminated during the cooking process.
